Our journey begins with a drive across the hills of the Judean desert downwards south from Jerusalem down the twisting mountain roads before reaching below sea level. Upon our travels we can see the Inn of the Good Samaritan and see the sign stating that we have reached sea level. With stunning views across the desert we eventually reach the city of Jericho at the Northern end of the Dead Sea. An Oasis city in the desert, the lowest city in the world and known to be the oldest continually inhabited city in the world.
According to the old Testament the walls of Jericho fell when Joshua’s troops marched around the walls for seven days. According to the book of Mark Jesus healed a blind man as he left the City of Jericho. Another Biblical event you can’t miss is the famous sycamore tree that Zacchaeus climbed to have a better view of Jesus entering the city as he was surrounded by his followers.
As we leave Jericho we proceed to the Mount of Temptation overlooking Jericho. A place where Jesus went off to meditate in the wilderness. It was here that he confronted the Devil who tried tempting him to forsake God, (Mathew 4:8). Built on this mount, three hundred and fifty meters above sea level is the Greek Orthodox Monastery of the Temptation.
Next on our journey is a visit to where Jesus is known to be baptised. The castle of the Jews or Qasr el Yahud is on the river Jordan not far from Jericho. The very same place is also a well known location where the Israelites crossed the river Jordan into the promised land and where the prophet Elijah ascended to Heaven. An opportunity to be baptised in this river is available.
Our final destination is to the Dead Sea, where we take a trip to one of the best Dead Sea beaches to relax and float in its high saline waters, or give yourself a mad bath by covering your body with the Dead Sea’s black mineral rich sea mud, giving yourself a natural health and beauty treatment. Our day ends with a return to the pick up point.

The Dead Sea is a natural wonder and has many therapeutic qualities but it also can be dangerous. For preserving your safety and wellbeing we recommend you read following instructions carefully:
1. When entering the sea it is recommended to do as very slowly as the ground mud is very slippery and one tends to sink in .Be cautious not to splash when swimming as the sea is highly salty. If the water gets in your eyes, get out carefully and wash your eyes with fresh water as soon as you can.
2. Do not swallow the water.
3. It is recommended to be in the water no longer than 20 minutes; the same can be said about the Mud. (You can smear the mineral rich mud from the sea ground all over your body, including your face).Once it dries, wash it off thoroughly.
4. Thereafter proceed to wash yourself in the fresh water showers nearby off the shore.
5. Regarding jewelries or any precious item (watches pendants earrings etc) – if you are not sure your jewelry is pure gold, it is recommended to remove it before entering the water as the High salt content can ruin other metals and fine mechanisms.
6. The shore we visit is well facilitated with Hot & Cold showers, safety lockers (for a deposit) and changing rooms. As well as life guard presence and first aid.
7. You should not go barefooted at all times: Sandals or thongs are required, the sand/ ground surface is extremely hot especially in the summer season, and there is considerable walking until the shore edge.
8. June-September, extreme temperature (above 40 Celsius), take precautions accordingly (hat, sunscreen, water).
