New Park & Ride Hubs Coming to Southern Israel’s Negev Region

January 25, 2026

Great news for travelers exploring Israel’s stunning Negev desert region! The Ministry of Transportation and Netivei Israel are launching a new transportation project that will make getting around southern Israel much easier.

Three key locations are being transformed into modern transport hubs: Gilat Junction, Sha’ar HaNegev, and Ar’ara. These new facilities will feature convenient park-and-ride lots plus car-sharing services, making it simpler to explore this incredible region without the hassle of navigating with your own rental car the entire time.

This is particularly exciting if you’re planning to visit attractions like the Ramon Crater, the ancient city of Avdat, or the desert towns of Mitzpe Ramon and Sde Boker. Instead of worrying about parking in remote areas, you’ll be able to leave your car at these central hubs and use shared transport options.

The project is part of Israel’s ongoing effort to improve transportation infrastructure, especially in the less-developed southern regions that are becoming increasingly popular with international visitors seeking authentic desert experiences and archaeological wonders.
