Haifa Central Train Station Gets Major Upgrade – Travel Tips
Planning to use Israel’s excellent train system during your visit? Here’s an important update for travelers heading to or through Haifa. The Ministry of Transportation and Israel Railways have begun major renovation work at Haifa Central Station (Haifa Merkaz HaShmona), investing approximately 7 million shekels in comprehensive upgrades.
The main entrance to the station is currently closed during construction, so if you’re planning to catch trains from Haifa – whether you’re exploring the beautiful Bahai Gardens, visiting the German Colony, or connecting to other destinations – you’ll need to use alternative entrances. The renovations are part of Israel’s ongoing public transportation development program across the country.
Don’t let this discourage you from using Israel’s efficient train network! The trains are still running on schedule, and Haifa remains well-connected to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and other major destinations. Just allow a few extra minutes to navigate the temporary entrance changes. This upgrade will ultimately make your future visits to Haifa even more convenient once completed.
