Free Train Rides to Festigal Shows – Perfect for Family Travel

December 10, 2025

Great news for families visiting Israel this December! Israel Railways is rolling out major service expansions to help everyone get to Festigal – Israel’s beloved children’s theater festival running December 11-31.

The railway is adding over 170 special trains throughout the festival period, making it much easier to travel between cities. You’ll also find expanded services at train stations and a brand new ticket booth at Tel Aviv University Expo station.

Here’s the sweet part for traveling families: through a partnership with Rav Kav (Israel’s transit card system), children traveling from locations more than 50km away can ride the trains for free to reach Festigal shows. This could save international families significant money, especially if you’re staying outside Tel Aviv and want to catch multiple performances.

Festigal is a uniquely Israeli experience – think Broadway-style productions designed specifically for kids, with beloved local characters and catchy songs that Israeli children grow up with. It’s a fantastic way to see how Israeli families celebrate together during the holiday season.

Pro tip: Book your Festigal tickets early as shows sell out quickly, and consider staying near a train station to take advantage of these enhanced services.
